Motorists left baffled by mind-bending optical illusion that shows disappearing road – but all is not as it seems

A STUNNING optical illusion showing a disappearing road has left motorists baffled.

The Storseisundet Bridge in Norway is built in such a way that from a certain angle it looks like you are going to drive over a steep edge onto a precipice.

It looks like the road is going to lead off the edge of a cliff, but that's just an optical illusion.

Also known as the Drunken Bridge, it seems to take on a different shape from every angle you look at it, which is what makes it so special.

But despite its impressive appearance, the bridge is perfectly safe and you won’t be plunged into the icy depths 23 meters below.

Once drivers start to cross, it supposedly appears to disappear in front of you as you continue your journey.

It is located on the five-mile-long Atlantic Ocean Road, which was built in 2005 and has become extremely popular with lovestruck tourists.

The road connects the mainland Romsdal peninsula with the island of Averøya in the county of Møre og Romsdal.

The bridge itself is paved and was inaugurated on July 7, 1989.

This is how it looks from another angle.

As you can see, it looks perfectly normal from another perspective, which will ease the fears of nervous drivers.

The world-famous building is surrounded by beautiful, untouched nature, which also attracts many tourists.

The cantilever bridge is 260 meters long and is the longest of the eight bridges that make up the Atlantic Highway.

Which shouldn’t be surprising, it was also called “the road to nowhere.”

The famous architecture has also been featured in television commercials due to its peculiar shape.

Similar to this bridge, another optical illusion uses angles to create an optical illusion that makes your face appear thinner.

Meanwhile, this tricky image hides a hidden animal, can you find it?
