- In 2022, Anees was unable to fly to Europe to compete, while his fellow contenders including Murali Sreeshankar and Jeswin Aldrin took part. According to Arness, his visa was not approved and a lack of sponsorship limited his travel to Europe. He said in a telephone interview,
I also want to participate in overseas competitions. However, my visa did not go through. I have been shortlisted for two competitions on May 21st and May 29th but cannot travel. The officials were not satisfied with my whereabouts during the eight days and therefore did not grant me a visa. I really don’t know how they (Sreeshankar and Anees) got their visas. I can only assume this is because they all have sponsor support. I currently do not have any private entity supporting me. ”
