Multiple Chiefs Fans Have Had Amputations Due to Frostbite After 4th-Coldest NFL Game Ever, Hospital Says

A Missouri hospital reportedly performed amputations on a dozen people who suffered frostbite during the January cold snap — including several Kansas City Chiefs fans who attended a Dolphins game on Jan. 13, where temperatures inside Arrowhead Stadium dipped below freezing.

The research medical center said doctors had primarily amputated the fingers and toes, with more surgeries expected in the coming weeks as “injuries progress,” according to a new statement obtained by The Associated Press on Friday, nearly two months after the cold football game. .

The Chiefs-Dolphins game was the fourth coldest game in NFL history, with the temperature at the beginning was reported as -4 degrees with a wind chill of -27.

Due to the almost record-low temperature, the ambulance provided help to 69 people during the match, while three people were hospitalized due to frostbite, and another seven due to symptoms of hypothermia.

“It was shocking how cold it was,” the 34-year-old Chiefs tight end told his brother Jason a few days after the game at their New heights podcast.
