Florence Pugh Makes a Splash at 2024 Oscars with Wet-Look Dress and ’90s Madonna-Inspired Hair

Florence Pugh is a pro when it comes to choosing striking gowns and her look on the 2024 Oscars red carpet is no exception.

The Oppenheimer the actress arrived in a silver Del Core gown with a form-fitting sheer bodice with delicate beading reminiscent of water droplets. The plunging dress gathered around her legs before she trailed behind her in a short train.

Hey! News co-anchor Zanna Roberts Rassi confirmed the water droplet theory on Instagram, writing that the design is supposed to mimic drops on a leaf.

Styled by Rebecca Corbin Murray, Pugh accessorized with Bulgari jewels and Piferi platform heels and wore her hair swept to one side.

Hairstylist Adir Abergel, who used Virtue products to style Pugh’s locks, drew inspiration from the “modern bombshell hairstyle with a glamorous vibe of carefree living,” according to a press release. The hairstyle is meant for celebration Oppenheimer13 Oscar nominations, as well as a nod to Madonna’s 1990s era.

Pugh, 28, joined her “Oppenhomies” co-stars at the awards, where their film was nominated for a whopping 13 awards. Among the nominations are best film, best director for Christopher Nolan, best actor for Cillian Murphy, best supporting actor for Robert Downey Jr. and Best Supporting Actress for Emily Blunt.

So far, the film has dominated the 2024 awards season, winning several awards at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards and SAG Awards.

Pugh’s Oscars look is the latest sartorial hit for the star. At the BAFTA Awards last month, she rocked a tailored Harris Reed look with a silver corset draped over a black skirt, plus a dramatic cape and train. Pugh accessorized with a sparkling Boucheron necklace.

Reed, who designed the dress, shared his excitement about creating the piece for Pugh on Instagram, “There are few people in this world that I love dressing for and respect more than the iconic Florence. Every time I get to sew my little heart and make a fashion moment with you always feels like the first. I love you and thank you for always trusting me to create for you.”

For the after party, she changed into a white lace-covered mini dress with an asymmetrical hem, which she paired with a feathered coat and a pair of Gianvito Rossi Portofino sandals.

The Dina: The second part the star wore her hair slicked back with retro waves and rocking silver eye shadow and glossy lips. Pugh amped up her party look with Maria Tash diamond star earrings and a silver septum ring.

Florence Pugh Brings the Heat to the 2024 Golden Globes Red Carpet in a Fiery Sheer and Platinum Faux Dress

In the midst of awards season, Pugh has also been out promoting Dina: The second part. At the sci-fi film’s London premiere in February, she wore a custom Valentino brown sequin, hooded dress paired with Aquazzura sandals.

After the red carpet, Pugh wrote on Instagram: “Oh my god. I know I’m not great and I pull these moments right away, but it’s always because I honestly let them sink in and spend most of the next day just remembering what those moments are like in life beautiful and extremely bad.”

The 96th Academy Awards will air live on ABC from the Dolby Theater on Sunday, March 10, at 7:00 PM ET.
