British Transport Police discovered the mother dead shortly after the video call on June 3, the MEN reports.
The inquest heard Jill’s cause of death was listed as “severe traumatic injuries”.
Coroner’s officer Alison Catlow told the court: “British Transport Police received a call from Greater Manchester Police to advise them that they had received a call from the woman’s partner, who said she had followed him while on the railway tracks.”
Jill is believed to have been involved in mental health services before her death, the inquest heard.
The full hearing was adjourned until November 11 at South Manchester Coroner’s Court.
Jill’s daughter Amber, 25, previously revealed how she “literally had nothing on her brain” when she was told her mum had died.
She added: “I felt numb. It still doesn’t feel like it’s real. It’s just me and my mum every day.
“I just feel like she’s going to walk through the door, like she’s not really gone.
“Especially how it happened – she promised she would never leave me. She told me a few weeks ago that she was struggling and didn’t want to be here, but she didn’t want to leave me.
“She was my best friend and we did everything together.”
Amber also paid tribute to her “bubbly” mum, who worked as landlady of The Crown pub, near Stockport Viaduct.
She said: “Everyone I would talk to would say it’s not a normal mother-daughter relationship.
“We told each other all kinds of things. Everyone was jealous of our friendship. She never judged me.”
