Mum wrote ‘I was murdered’ in tragic note before she ‘took own life on train track after suffering years of abuse by ex’

A MOTHER who took her own life on railway tracks after years of abuse by her ex wrote “I’m killed” in a tragic final note, a court heard.

Kiena Dawes, 23, also said her ex-partner Ryan Wellings, 30, “killed me” before she died on a railway line in Lancashire.

Jurors heard that the mother was repeatedly exposed to controlling and coercive behavior by her ex.

Wellings is also accused of violently abusing Kiena over a number of years – including the latest attack just 11 days before she ended her life.

The court heard the couple had been in an “intense” relationship for two years which was riddled with alleged abuse.

Kiena was diagnosed with an emotionally unstable personality disorder, which caused increased impulsivity, low self-esteem and difficulty in relationships.

Jurors heard how Wellings took advantage of her condition, which played a role in the hairdresser’s decision to end her own life.

He allegedly accused Kiena of sleeping with other people, branded her “s**t”, threw a chair at her and told her to kill herself.

On one occasion, jurors heard that he tried to strangle her with a charger cable, and also broke into the apartment they shared.

On July 22, 2022, Kiena drove to a friend’s house and went inside while the friend was in the shower.

She then left her nine-month-old daughter inside along with a so-called goodbye note.

This read: “The end. I fought hard, I fought long. I went through pain that no one could imagine.

You are not alone

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide

It does not discriminate, it touches the lives of people in all corners of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and football players.

It is the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, deadlier than cancer and traffic accidents.

And men are three times more likely to take their own lives than women.

Yet it’s rarely talked about, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage if we don’t all stop and pay attention now.

That’s why The Sun launched the You Are Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all help save lives.

Let’s all pledge to ask for help when we need it, and listen to others… You are not alone.

If you or anyone you know needs help with mental health issues, the following organizations offer support:

Kiena then apologized to her daughter for having to “let you go” and said the world “turned its back on me”.

She said she hoped to “keep the baby away from the monster called her dad”.

Kiena, from Fleetwood, Lancashire, traveled onto a country road and was later hit by a high-speed train.
