He started playing cricket at a young age, following his elder brother Sarfaraz Khan. He trained at the Manly Cricket Academy under the guidance of his father Naushad Khan. He was educated at Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School in Mumbai and trained under the school’s cricket coach Iqbal Thakur and later Abdul Ahad Khan. He later became a professional cricketer.

In 2011, at the age of 6, he made his debut in the Giles Shield Under-14 Championship at Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School. Subsequently, he played for many clubs including Sportsfield Cricket Club in the Kanga Cricket League in 2013, Diamond Star CC in the Kanga Cricket League in 2014, Amre CC in the MGS-Bisleri Challenge Cup in 2015, Kanga Cricket Club in 2018 League Young Mohammedan SC team.
In 2017, he played for Mumbai U-14 team against Saurashtra U-14 team in the final of the Western Zone Championship and scored 237 not out, making them the champions of the tournament. He also represented Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School in the 2018 Harris Shield Championship. He has also represented Mumbai U-16, U-19 Yellow and U-19 teams in different tournaments organized by BCCI.
He helped Mumbai Police City Riders win the Mitsui T20 Cricket League 2023 (Season 9). He has attracted attention with his consistent brilliant performances in various tournaments such as the Cooch Behar Trophy 2021-22 where he scored 670 runs in 11 innings. An average of 67, five fifties and two centuries, 32 wickets at an average of 26.06, with two four-wickets and three five-wicket hauls.
He made his debut for Mumbai in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra on December 27, 2022. In the 2023 CK Nayudu Trophy Colonels match, he scored 629 runs at an average of 78.63, with a highest score of 339, and took 16 wickets at an average of 13.81.
In September 2024, Mushel scored his third first-class hundred in the first match of the Duleep Trophy in Bengaluru.

Musheer Khan represented the India U-19 team in the 2023 U-19 Asia Cup in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). He then participated in the 2024 U-19 World Cup in South Africa, scoring two centuries and helping India reach the final. He said he followed the advice of his elder brother Sarfaraz Khan and would not be happy until the team won the game.

Musheer Khan captained Mumbai U-16 team against Uttar Pradesh U-16 team in the quarter-finals of Vijay Merchant Trophy 2018-19, which Mumbai lost Contest. Musheer made some obscene gestures towards Mumbai teammate Vedanta Gadia during the match, following which the Ad Hoc Management Committee of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) banned him for 3 years on January 16, 2019; however, Musheer offered an unconditional apology, Some psychiatric visits were agreed to before the ban was lifted in October 2019.

- His batting style is right-handed and his bowling style is slow left-arm orthodoxy. He is a batting all-rounder who plays most of the time in the top order.
- When he was a child, he used to wake up at 5 am and reach the Azad Maidan Stadium where he practiced at 6:30 am. Later, he took tutoring under the guidance of his teacher Hitesh Doshi and went to school at 12 o’clock. Return to the cricket field from school for practice at 4pm and go home at 8pm. He followed the advice of Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar and went to bed at 9 pm. Sunil Gavaskar recommends sleeping for 8 hours a day to get adequate rest.
- In 2013, he dismissed Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh in a friendly cricket match and Yuvraj gave him an autographed ball after the match; Mushel was only 8 years old at the time.
- In the 2014 Kanga League, while playing for Diamond Star CC, Musheer dismissed former Indian cricketer Abey Kuruvilla, after which Kuruvilla gifted him bowling shoes worth Rs 10,000.
- In the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, his base price was Rs 20 lakh, but he failed to sell.
- On March 12, 2024, Musheer scored a century in the Ranji Trophy final at the Wankhede Stadium, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record as Mumbai’s youngest batsman; Sachin had held this record for 29 years.
