The singer, who has sold more than 3.5 million records in the UK, was due to appear on stage at Mrytle Park in Bingley alongside other acts such as Peter Andre.

But organizers of the free music event said their reason was “security concerns”.

They shared on Instagram: “We had to cancel The Challenge Festival due to security concerns.

“Another major event was canceled due to unrealistic demands such as fencing off the forest area in case of fire among many others.

“We will release more details later, completely destroyed, thousands of hours and thousands of pounds lost.”

Bradford Council’s safety advisory group said: “Public safety must be a priority at any event.”

Gareth, who was born in Bradford, rose to fame on Pop Idol in 2002.

He came second on the show, behind winner Will Young.

Over the years, he has released three studio albums, participated in three successful tours and won numerous awards for his music.

The star has also appeared in various theater productions including Joseph and The Technicolor Dream Coat, Les Misérables and Sleeping Beauty.

It was revealed today that the local rugby club allowed the performers to perform to excited crowds.

Last month Gareth posed with his rarely seen daughter Missy – as he wished her a happy 15th birthday.

Gareth captioned the healthy photo: “Happy birthday to my beautiful little lady @missygates_x.
