THE MYSTERY behind a mother’s disappearance deepened after officers discovered her belongings had been discovered in “various locations” in the park.

Gaynor Lord, 55, went missing at 2.45pm on Friday – but her clothes, rings and mobile phone were found that evening in Wensum Park, Norwich.

Gaynor, who has shoulder-length blonde hair in a bob, is described as white and 5ft 6in tall.

She was last seen walking on London Street in Norwich,

Police in Norwich declared her missing after they found her ID in her bag – and learned she had not returned home from work that evening.

Her white work shirt, yellow tank top and jewelery were found strewn in different places in the city center park, while her olive drab coat was found in the water.

Officers now believe she disappeared at least partially unclothed.

Police said at lunchtime on Tuesday that “the most likely scenario is that Gaynor went into the water.”

Supp Wes Hornigold said: “Gaynor left work early and did not take her usual route home. We have not been able to establish why she left early and her disappearance is out of character so we are naturally concerned for her welfare.

“There is no evidence that Gaynor was injured and although we have a number of inquiries ongoing, given where her clothing and other items were found, there is a real possibility that she entered the water.

“We have liaised with the National Crime Agency (NCA) who have advised us on specialist underwater diving teams and we are seeking assistance from the force with this capability.

“We hope to have the resources on the ground later today [Tuesday] or tomorrow.

“This is obviously a difficult time for her family. We have specialist officers to support them and we continue to keep them informed of our ongoing work.”

Police divers, assisted by fire crews and the coastguard, search the nearby River Wensum yesterday using sonar equipment to examine the water.

Officers also used drones and foot searches to look for further leads.
