Naga’s absence comes just over a week after she revealed that she had been diagnosed with a little-known uterine disease called adenomyosis, which caused her great pain.

She told her Radio 5 Live listeners: “Right now as I’m sitting here talking to you: I feel pain. The pain is constant, intense. In my uterus. Around the bones. my pelvis. Sometimes it runs down my thighs. And I’ll drink the level of pain during the show and the rest of the days until I go to bed.”

Naga explains that she lives “on painkillers every day” and says she doesn’t wear “light-colored pants” when she hosts BBC Breakfast because she’s “so scared” of a leak while on her period moon.

Talking about the pain she went through the previous weekend, she revealed that her husband James called 911 in the middle of the night. “I writhed and groaned and screamed in pain. I finally managed to fall asleep after about 45 minutes. And then it happened again in the middle of the night and we had to call 911 because I couldn’t move. And I just know how to scream.
