- In an interview, she shared how she started playing badminton. she says,
Growing up, my sister and I were exposed to extracurricular activities, and Bharatanatyam was one of them. While Jaspreet continued pursuing Bharatanatyam, I quit after 6 months, saying I wanted to play badminton. Playing simple games with friends and family and beating them sparked my love for gaming. Since I am ambidextrous with both hands, I can play badminton with both hands. However, I later chose to play with my right hand but continued all other activities with my left hand. After about 18 months of training, my skills improved a lot and I beat many seniors. The opportunity to move to Hyderabad for training was a dream come true. My parents live in Mumbai and the entire family had to make a lot of sacrifices. My dad moved to Hyderabad with me. My mom and my sister lived in Mumbai but would visit her every weekend for moral support and to prepare weekly weight loss meals. I believe it will all be worth it in the end. “
