Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing Competition Will 'Weed Out the Weak' as Survivalists Fight to Stay Alive (Exclusive)

Naked and scared returns for another season, putting the best survival skills to the test for a chance to win $100,000.

From the beginning Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing, the competition, which takes place in Africa’s Munzwa Valley, is unlike anything fans have ever seen. With 14 all-stars, the survivalists will no longer be able to share their tools with each other, leaving each person to themselves for the 45-day challenge.

“It’s every man’s own survivor,” says one insider in PEOPLE’s exclusive first look at the new season teaser.

“I’m struggling today,” says another.

In a new twist, “a one-on-one challenge will take place on the first day, resulting in a double elimination before the survivors even reach camp,” according to a press release.

“This challenge will weed out the weak,” says one survivalist.

Head-to-head competition isn’t all that’s to come. There are also wild animals fighting for survival as the competition takes place in a “harsh kill zone” full of lions, leopards and hyenas. At one point, the camp even loses its territory to rhinos and baboons, forcing them to find a new base in the middle of the night, according to the post.

In the dramatic teaser, the survivalist declares, “Every day is a competition, every minute is a competition.”

Battling wood, fire and animals, some contestants hit their breaking points as one clip shows an ambulance arriving at the scene as the contestants look on with worried eyes. At other times, people behave in ways they would never expect.

“Money can make people do some unpredictable things,” he said of the $100,000 prize.

For those who “have no primitive skills”, the chances of surviving the competition are low. But the rivalry forces the “best of the best” to move on, leaving only one to claim the title of Last One Standing.

“I’m not going home!” shouts a survivalist as the trailer draws to a close.

The cast is made up of dedicated contestants, some of whom have survived more than 100 — and even 200 — days in past seasons.

Patrick French, Lindsey Leitelt, Darrin Reay and Kate Wentworth return after two past challenges, with Leitelt and Raay surviving the longest at 61 days.

Dani Beauchemin, Trish Bulinsky and Russell Sage have already competed three times, with Beauchemin lasting the longest at 82 days, and Bulinsky and Sage at 75 and 74 days.

Increasing competition, Fernando Calderon, Bulent Gurcan and Dan Link return with four events in hand. Link claims the third highest survival days of the entire group at 140.

Next up are Ky Furneaux and Lacey Jones, who have completed the past five challenges and survived 91 and 80 days.

The top contenders are Gary Golding and Jeff Zausch, who have the most survival days. Golding is in second place with 182, while Zausch has achieved an incredible 245 days so far.
