Namitha Marimuthu is an Indian transgender activist, model and actress. She came into the spotlight after appearing as one of the contestants of Miss International Queen 2022.

After entering puberty, Bo Tian wanted to become a woman; however, her parents opposed her decision. At the age of thirteen, she underwent her first surgery to remove excess breast fat. She said in an interview,
During the tenth class, something happened to my body. My breasts started to get bigger. Since my uncle was a doctor, my parents asked him to surgically remove my breasts. Within three months, my breasts started growing again. ”
Later, when she was 16, she was sent to a psychiatric rehabilitation center for six months. After six months in rehab, she was brought home to check for any changes, but her feminine behavior became more pronounced. At seventeen, she was sent to another rehabilitation center for drug addicts. A year later, she was sent to another rehabilitation center, which allowed her to change her identity; however, Namita managed to escape from the rehabilitation center. Thereafter, in 2010, she filed a complaint against her parents in the Madras High Court, which ruled that she was legally separated from her parents. In an interview, she described her transformation journey, saying:
With the help of SAHODARAN (a non-profit LGBTQ organization), my parents got counseling and learned about the existence of transgender people in society, which convinced my father to accept me, so eventually my parents changed their minds. Three months after our separation, I decided to transition and live as a woman full-time. Due to my job and friends I could afford it as I worked in SAHODARAN and I also used to dance on stage which gave me less income. This money helped me transition into womanhood at a young age. After my transition, my parents did not accept me for about two months, but after talking to SAHODARAN, my parents accepted me as a woman again. ”

Namita Marimuthu began her career as a model and began participating in small beauty pageants for transgender women in her city. In 2015, she participated in the Miss Kovagam beauty pageant held in Villupuram. In 2018, she won the title of Miss Transgender Queen of India. In 2019, she participated in the Miss Interstar International 2019 held in Barcelona and won the international titles of Miss Popularity and Miss Public Favorite.
In June 2022, she participated in Miss Queen International, the world’s largest beauty pageant for transgender women, in Thailand. In an interview, she talked about her modeling career and said:
I weighed over 100kg at the time. One day I felt I needed to do something and started a strict diet and exercise regime and lost weight. Then the opportunity to get into Miss Chennai (a transgender woman) came up. I gave it a try and I won. I also won the title of Miss Pondicherry. My dream is to win the Miss Transqueen India beauty pageant next year and then represent the country in an international beauty pageant. “

To learn more about my problem, I started talking to people like me and learned about my problem. At a family gathering, I dressed up as a girl. Although my parents did not beat me directly, I was beaten by relatives. At the same time, I fled my home four times, only to return fearing for my safety. I was tracked by detectives hired by my parents. Once, I danced at an event in the transgender community wearing my mother’s sari. When I got home, I was beaten black and blue. My parents threatened to kill me if I didn’t change my habits. ”
