Naomi Campbell Celebrates ‘BFF’ Christy Turlington’s 55th Birthday with Sweet Throwback Photos: ‘Chosen Family’

It’s Christy Turlington’s birthday, and Naomi Campbell is taking the opportunity to pay tribute to her “BFF”.

On Tuesday, Campbell, 53, took to Instagram to share her love for her fellow supermodel’s 55th birthday. In the lengthy caption, Campbell highlighted all of her favorite qualities about Turlington and shared some sweet photos of the two over the years.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my BFF my first ever roommate chosen family of 37 .. @cturlington!!” she wrote. “#QUEEN One of the most beautiful in the world inside and out, intelligent, hardworking, loyal, caring and kind.. always consistent, SO PROUD OF ALL THE GREAT WORK YOU DO @everymomcounts SAVING MOTHERS AND BABIES FROM MATERNAL MORTALITY.”

“Enjoy your special day .. we always love you as we celebrate you Turly #family #bff #happybirthday 👑❤️🎂❤️🎂❤️🎂❤️🎂 👑,” she concluded.

The series of photos started with a snapshot of the duo sharing a sweet embrace, and the next few showed their old modeling shots.

Back in September, the couple showed fans what life as a supermodel looks like in the Apple TV+ docuseries, Super models. Across four episodes, Campbell, Turlington, Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista gave fans a peek into their lives in the industry.

“My sisters Christy, Linda, Cindy and I are beyond thrilled to share our story with the world,” Campbell wrote in an October post about the series. “We hope that our journey seen in the documentaries will encourage, motivate and inspire young people around the world.”

The four women also executive produced the limited series, which was first announced in October 2020 — years ahead of its September 2023 release. They were also on the cover Vogue and British Voguefashion issues of that same month.

“So excited to reunite with @cindycrawford, @naomi, @lindaevangelista for the September cover of @voguemagazine @britishvogue who have played a huge role in each of our careers since the beginning,” Turlington said of the covers on her Instagram. “Being on set together again brought back so many fun memories. Thank you #AnnaWintour @edward_enninful #Sally Singer @rafaelpavarotti_ @stephane_marais_officiali, @eugenesouleiman and everyone who helped make these days so special.”

Iconic models gather for covers Vogue brought back the 90s nostalgia for them and their fans.

“My reaction was, is this really happening?” Campbell told the publication in a behind-the-scenes video. “Just to get everyone together to shoot with Edward [Enninful] and Anna [Wintour]it was a pleasure,” she added.

“I’m blessed to come up at that time, I wouldn’t want to come up at any other time,” Campbell continued in Vogue title interview, “There was a sisterhood there, defined by care and loyalty: when one doesn’t work, you pick up the other.”
