The creator of Nas Daily, Nuseir Yassin, a well-known Palestinian-Israeli, has launched an online learning company with the aim of “disrupting education.” One year after receiving $12 million in seed capital from Lightning Venture Partners and founding partner TechAviv, Nas Academy is currently seeking investment from Pitango, OurCrowd, and BECO Capital in Dubai.

In an online briefing this week, Yassin said: “We are a collective of creators from around the world who love to bring people together. Online education is a lonely and monotonous process. That’s why we set out on a mission to improve learning communities. Furthermore, we believe that artists will undermine education.

We decided to enter the market and increase the round because we are ready to scale, he said. With 1,000 one-minute Facebook videos daily featuring Yassin’s travels around the world, Nas Daily quickly became a viral sensation.

He used social media to connect us, the Arabic word for people, and he was incredibly successful. The Harvard-educated software engineer left a lucrative position at Venmo after infectious, upbeat videos of him earned him 50 million followers and tens of billions of views.

Yassin still strives to bring people together online, but he has a different goal. With former business partners at Uber and Grab, Yassin founded Nas Academy, a content creation and learning startup that gives successful content creators access to a platform where students can learn together and teachers can earn from their expertise. Its headquarters are in Dubai and Singapore, where Yassin now resides most of the time.

An audience of 200,000 students and 100 of the world’s most influential people and artists drew Nas Academy in its first year of operation. The academy offers classes on entrepreneurship, business, and content development.

The academy courses have been used by more than 50 international companies, including Google, TikTok, Pfizer, Singapore Airlines and Bayer, as well as by government and police agencies, to train their staff.

Because people don’t like to learn on their own and don’t complete courses, the current model of downloading educational courses from the Internet has failed, according to Yassin. According to him, Nas Academy has created a “cohort-based learning paradigm” that groups students into “learning communities” that support and motivate each other.
