It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the peaceful death of Natalie Grace Knox, an extraordinary person who touched the lives of so many. Natalie, age 68, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2023 at her home after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.
Natalie was born in Belfast on 7 October 1954 to Charles Knox and Grace (Brown) Knox. She was a proud graduate of Searsport District High School, Class of 1972, and went on to pursue her passion for education at the University of Maine, earning a B.A.
In 1982, Natalie co-founded the beloved radio station WKSQ (“Kiss 94 FM”), and her passion for broadcasting led her to co-own five other radio stations, including the respected WNSX (“Star 97.7”) in the Ellsworth area.
Natalie’s influence extended far beyond her successful career. She was deeply involved in her local community, devoting her time and expertise to various organizations. Natalie served on the board of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and contributed to the growth of the Woodlawn Museum.
She was a compassionate animal advocate and devoted countless hours to caring for stray cats at local shelters. Her commitment to community service is exemplified by years of dedicated service on the board of directors of the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce, including her term as president.

Natalie’s journey would not have been the same without the unwavering support and care of her friend Deb McFarland of Lamoine, who provided immeasurable help throughout her battle with the disease. Natalie’s loving parents preceded her in death.
Visiting hours will be held June 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Jordan-Fernald, located at 113 Franklin St. in Ellsworth. Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church of Searsport on June 28 at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Mt. Hope in Searsport.
