Natalie Noone News

That’s the life of Natalie Noone, a young country/Americana musician whose father is famed Herman’s Hermits frontman Peter Noone. But it didn’t stop Natalie from following in her father’s footsteps and entering the music profession, albeit in a different genre.

She’ll be bringing her brand, as well as her band, The Maybes, to Milwaukee for a number of gigs, beginning Wednesday night with a two-hour solo show at The Bay in Whitefish Bay. She and The Maybes will next open for Herman’s Hermits at two nights at Potawatomi’s Northern Lights Theatre before wrapping up the week at Racine’s Route 20 Outhouse.

“I’m like reaching all of the bases,” stated Noone. “It’s as if my entire career can be summed up in four days.” Except for the stadium, we’re covering all types of venues, which may take some time.

Before her mini-Milwaukee tour, OnMilwaukee spoke with Noone about growing up with a famous father, as well as her own artistic inspirations and aspirations.

OnMilwaukee.com: When did you first get interested in music? Given your background, I’m assuming you grew up in a musical family.

Natalie Noone: (laughs) That was correct. Oh, I have no idea. I grew up backstage, and music was always playing in my house. My parents used to listen to music to me through my mother’s stomach. I received a classical music instruction while still in the womb, which is really unusual. (laughs)

I grew up behind the scenes, and my father was a big music fan. I must have seen someone play the violin somewhere since I begged to play it when I was four years old and did so for about ten years. I grew tired of classical music, so my father began introducing me to music from the 1950s and 1960s, and he showed me how to play “For No One” on the piano since he said it was “For No One.” As a result, my love of chords and more pop songwriting was created. I ultimately took up a guitar and started playing country songs. (laughs)
