On Channel 4’s Grand Designs: The Street, which will return with two new episodes, Natasha will work with him. The programme will follow a group of daring self-builders as they set out on a quest to design and construct their own distinctive homes.
The following year, Natasha, who owns her own practice in Edinburgh, will join the programme. The two will follow Graven Hill in Oxfordshire, the largest mass-self-build site in the UK, and feature a number of new projects in Glasgow.
In the first season of The Street, Kevin commented, “We saw the very beginnings of the Graven Hill site and it was an honour to spend time alongside our 10 plucky guinea pigs.”
Now that Britain’s largest self-build community has truly gotten going, we’re back to monitor more projects. According to Kevin, the show will also offer insight into how self-sustaining properties can change the UK real estate industry.
I’m also eager to examine other pilot projects in this series, like Glasgow, he added. Self-build and custom-build are “here to stay” and, at the current rate, they will significantly increase the supply of dwellings in Britain. ‘Both new series will capture the sense of community that these great self-build neighbourhoods foster, as the passion, resilience, and ambition of the builders show through to create something exceptional,’ said Channel 4 Commissioning Editor Ian Dunkley.
The commission was established in response to the rating success of Grand Designs, which debuted on Channel 4 in January and attracted 3.4 million viewers. Grand Designs: The Street had 2.1 million viewers for its whole first season, which aired in 2019.
