Nathan Fillion lands major role away from The Rookie – details

Nathan Fillion has joined the cast of James Gunn Superman: Legacy, it has been confirmed. The actor will play the role of Green Lantern Guy Gardner and will begin shooting on the superhero movie next year, scheduled for production in January 2024.

Nathan will join an all-star cast that includes David Coreswet and Rachel Brosnahan as Clark Kent, aka Superman, and Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane. Meanwhile, casting for the villain Lex Luthor is still underway. Based on hollywood reporterbrothers Alexander and Bill Skarsgard have been considered – looks like we’ll have to wait and see!

Confirming Nathan’s participation in Superman: Legacy was announced on social media this week, with the film’s director James Gunn writing: “Yay! Welcome to the cast of Superman: Legacy, @isabelamerced as Hawkgirl, @iamedigathegi as Mister Terrific and my old friend @nathanfillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner!”

Over the years, Nathan and James – who are also close friends – have collaborated on a number of projects together. The pair first collaborated on James’ directorial debut, it slipped2006, and James recently hired Nathan suicide squad (2021) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023).

Although little is known about their latest movie, Superman: LegacyThe long-awaited movie has been set for a release date of July 11, 2025. Meanwhile, James has revealed some small information about the new social networking platform, Threads.

On Tuesday, he wrote: “Superman: Legacy begins two years from today. It may seem far-fetched to many of you, but it’s very close to me! We have a lot of work to do between now and then. But I’ve never been more excited about a forever project… and this slowly coming together… the holy cow…”

Of course, the post sparked some comments from fans, and James took the time to respond. “The main story is definitely Superman and Lois,” a DC co-CEO told one fan. When asked if Nathan would like to get Guy Gardner’s signature haircut, the director joked, “Perhaps my old friend Nate’s bowl cut was probably the main reason I chose him.”

Over the next few months, Nathan will have an extremely busy schedule. It was recently announced that he has joined the cast Skin Careupcoming thriller starring Elizabeth Banks, Lewis Pullman, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez and Luis Gerardo Méndez.

Although plot details have been kept private, the film has been described as a frivolous thriller set in Hollywood, according to Deadline. The new film is directed by Austin Peters, written and executive produced by Deering Regan and Sam Freilich.
