Long before he starred in The Rookie, Nathan Fillion landed his breakout role as Joey Buchanan on the daytime soap opera, A life to live. But during his time on the popular ABC show – which he starred in in 1994 – the actor sported a completely different look, and we couldn’t get over his hair!

Clearly a fan of the ’90s curtain trend favored by Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, Nathan is almost unrecognizable in this incredible photo. Because of his long hair, we had to take a photo twice, and we were also surprised to see him wearing a pair of glasses – which he seems to rarely wear.
The revealed photo was actually taken as a promotional photo for his time A life to live. A turning point in his career, Nathan’s role on the show earned him a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Young Actor in a Drama Series. The 52-year-old also has plenty of happy memories of his time working on the soap.

When asked which ex-colleague he would like to work with again, Nathan replied “Everyone!” before adding: “I want Bob Woods [ex-Bo Buchanan] join The Rookie.”

Currently, Robert S. Woods is yet to star in a police drama, but we’d love to see an on-screen reunion between his old co-stars!
Meanwhile, Nathan will reprise his role as John Nolan in the sixth season of The Rookie, although a release date has yet to be confirmed. Several publications have reported that it’s more likely to come out in 2024, especially with the writers’ strikes underway – it looks like we’ll have to wait and see.
