Nauman Niaz is a cricket journalist from Pakistan who works as the Director of Sports and Syndicates at PTV channel. Nauman Niaz was born on Wednesday, November 19, 1969, in Lahore, West Pakistan (age 52; as of 2021). He started schooling at St. Mary’s College, Rawalpindi, in 1975. He has been an avid cricket lover since his childhood. After completing his studies, he attended Aitchison College, Lahore, and subsequently obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degrees from Rawalpindi Medical University.

Shoaib Akhtar Controversy
He came into limelight on 26 October 2021 during a live chat show featuring former cricketers; Shoaib Akhtar, Vivian Richards, David Gower, Rashid Latif and Sana Mir during the T20 between Pakistan and New Zealand It will be broadcast on PTV channel after the World Cup match.

In a chat, Shoaib said that fast bowler Harris Rauf’s performance has improved since he played for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Nauman interrupted the statement by telling Shaheen that Shah Afridi was Lahore Qalandar’s discovery in the PSL. Reacting to this, Shoaib reiterated that he was talking about Harris Rauf, who took four wickets in the 2021 T20 World Cup against New Zealand.

He later resigned as PTV cricket analyst. After the incident, Shoaib said that he actually felt humiliated in front of the other legendary guests present, and the following words were just to calm the situation. He wrote on his official Twitter account:

The controversy occurred in 2017 when Nauman Niaz allegedly damaged the image of PTV Sports channel after signing a contract with Karachi Kings, a team owned by ARY Communications. In his defense, Nauman said:
“Why was he selected as OSD? In principle and morally, if PTV Sports can make Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United their media and brand partners, then the question is Karachi Kings. PSL is affiliated Pakistan Cricket Board, of which the Prime Minister is the patron. It would certainly be a conflict of interest if Najam Sethi is working with one of the TV groups, he is also the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the PCB and at the helm of the PSL. It would be interesting if Sethi could be photographed. To the photo with the ARY CEO smiling, why is he not being condemned? This should be done on an equal footing Karachi Kings may well be owned by Salman Iqbal of ARY Communications Limited. It is one of the most expensive franchises in PSL run by PCB. If PCB can make money from ARY owned Karachi Kings, then what is wrong with PTV doing so if Karachi Kings are like Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United, White Sands? Wazalmi is a legally recognized team of PSL like Quetta Gladiators, so why is the government taking a discriminatory stance towards PTV Sports becoming their media and brand partner.”
