She made headlines in 2022 when she and three teammates won a gold medal in lawn bowls at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Nayanmoni Saikia was born on Wednesday, September 21, 1988, in Tengabari village, Golaghat, Assam (age 34 years; as of 2022). Her zodiac sign is Virgo. Soon after completing her schooling, she joined Golaghat Business College, Assam for her postgraduate studies. Nayanmoni Saikia belongs to a farming family from Assam. In 2001, SAI Golaghat Center selected her for weightlifting through a talent search program. Assam weightlifting promoter Ajay Chetia mentioned in an interview with a media outlet that Nayanmoni Saikia started representing Assam in lawn bowls in 2007. He said,
Prior to 2007, lawn bowls was unheard of in the state. When Nayanmoni saw the sport, it changed her life. She took up the sport that year and since then, she has represented Assam and India many times. “

Nayanmoni Saikia participated in the 2011 National Games in individual and team events and won gold medals. The following year, she participated in the Asian Lawn Bowl Championships in the women’s under-25 category and won the gold medal.

In 2014, she represented India at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, and participated in the Women’s Singles and Women’s Trio Lawn Bowls Championships, finishing third in her group in both events. Nayanmoni Saikia participated in the 2015 National Lawn Bowling Championship in Kerala, India and won a gold medal.

In 2018, she participated in the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Queensland. In 2020, she represented India in the South Asian Games and received medals and cash awards from the Indian government.

Nayanmoni Saikia, along with teammates Lovely Choubey, Pinki Singh and Rupa Rani Tirkey, participated in the Commonwealth Games in England on August 2, 2022 and defeated South Africa in the lawn bowls final team and won the gold medal. They defeated New Zealand in the semi-finals on 1 August 2022 to reach the lawn bowls final.

- In an interview with the media, Nayamoni Saikia’s husband revealed that she switched from weightlifting to lawn bowls after a serious leg injury. He added in the same discussion that after these injuries, her performance in weightlifting began to deteriorate and she soon turned to lawn bowls, which later became her passion. He said,
Nayanmoni was earlier a very dedicated weightlifter and her whole life revolved around sports. But a leg injury meant her performance worsened until she found lawn bowls. It’s been her passion ever since. She faced many challenges in life, but she never sacrificed her game. “
