Nazni, now known as Nazni Merchant, is an Indian actress active in Bollywood during the 1970s and 1980s. She is best known for her role as Kunti in the epic Indian television series Mahabharata.

Nazneen was born on Sunday, February 23, 1958 (age 62 in 2020) in Kolkata. Her zodiac sign is Pisces. She went to school at Hill Grange High School in Mumbai. She wanted to be an air hostess since she was a child. However, her mother used to think that it was not safe for her to pursue this profession. Once, at a party hosted by one of her relatives, film director Satyen Bose spotted her and offered her a role in his film Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa (1972).

Nazneen comes from a Muslim family. Her father owns a printing press. She is the niece of Mumtaz Begum. She is married and has two daughters, Kausar Merchant and Kehkashan Merchant. She is a relative of film producer Yusuf Teendarwazwala.
Profession
Nazneen started her acting career in 1972 with the film Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa. She then played Jaya Bachchan’s sister in the film Kora Kagaz. After Kora Kagaz, Nazneen was offered several supporting roles in films but she turned them down. She acted in films such as Chalte Chalte (1976), Fauji (1976), Dildaar (1977), Khuda Kasam (1981) and Do Ustad (1982). Nazneen also acted in some B-grade films as the heroine.

- Her hobbies include traveling and reading.
- She went to the same school as actress Neetu Singh.
- Nazneen is often confused with former actress Aloka (wife of actor Ranjeet); as Aloka’s real name is Nazneen.
- Film directors thought Nazneen was very similar to Jaya Bachchan and therefore cast her as Jaya’s sister in a few films.
- According to reports, Nazneen made only 22 films in his entire career.
- She shot a bikini scene in the movie Chalte Chalte in 1976. She agreed to wear a bikini in the movie because she wanted to let the film director know that she could play the lead role in the movie as well.
