NCIS: LA ended in May. Eric has been part of the beloved cast since the series began in 2009 and aired for 14 years before airing its final episode earlier this year. The drama concluded with a two-part finale special, as well as a special featuring interviews with the cast and crew celebrating the fantastic run on CBS.

News of its cancellation was announced earlier in the year and while CBS did not reveal the reasons why the spin-off was pulled, reports at the time said it was due to budgetary reasons.

Deadline explained in its report: “The cancellation of the long-running, big-name drama shooting in LA shouldn’t come as a shock given the high price tag involved, especially at a time when networks around the world are looking to cut their spending.”

Meanwhile, a CBS press release was released officially announcing the news. Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said, “From day one, the cast, producers and crew have been incredible partners with the Network/Studio, and their teamwork, talent and spirit have come through vividly on screen.”

She added, “We are so grateful for the cooperation and remarkable run of these precious members of our CBS family, and we plan to give them the grand send-off they and their fans deserve.”

Since the series ended, Eric has been busy working on his own series, Matlock, which was announced back in May. The upcoming legal drama is a reboot of the 1986 drama, and the network has ordered it to series for the 2023-2024 broadcast season.

A release date has not yet been confirmed, but due to the current SAG-AFTRA strike that began in the summer, it is possible that the release could be delayed.
