joy actress Jenna Ushkowitz broke the heartbreaking news to fans — her beloved French bulldog Bear died at the age of 9.
“I can’t believe I’m writing this. Goodbye, my sweet Medo. ❤️,” she began in her Instagram post to her nearly one million followers. “I am truly, deeply grateful for the love and companionship you have given me over the past 9 years. Thank you for filling our lives with pure joy, I hope we have done the same for you,” she continued.

“You were there for so many key moments from moving to NYC, coming back to LA to meet David, being at our wedding and being the only one getting ready with me, and getting cheers as you walked down the aisle,” she recalled. in honor of her precious canine.
Ushkowitz, who shares daughter Emma, 15 months, with Stanley, noted that her child’s “favorite word” is “Beah Beah.”

Although Ushkowitz has yet to discover what caused Bear’s death, other than suggesting it was related to old age, she hoped he was not suffering anymore. “You have battled so many health issues and I hope you are free now, resting peacefully and without pain, my sweet boy. I hope I have given you peace,” she wrote. “You will always, always, always be by my side.”
She captioned her message, “We love you more than anything Medo Medo. ❤️🪽 1/16/14-9/21/23.”

Bear has made regular appearances on Ushkowitz’s social media over the years, even getting his own special greetings on National Dog Day on August 26. He has recently been dealing with several health issues that Ushkowitz has been keeping her fans informed about.
A week before his death, Ushkowitz shared a photo of himself holding Bear around his chest and giving him a kiss. “Mr 🐻 is not feeling well. Please send your healing energy towards him ✨ ❤️,” she said.
After Ushkowitz wrote a post dedicated to Bear, she shared a few more heartbreaking photos on her Instagram Story. These included photos of Bear enjoying a walk on the beach with an angel wing emoji attached to his back, and another of his paw nestled in Ushkowitz’s hand along with the caption “Forever ❤️ bonded.”
