Neel Pawan Baruah grew up in a tiny hamlet near Tiyak, Assam. A major news organization reported his birthday as June 1, 1936. He was just 86 years old when he died. He completed his studies with honors while living in Assam. First, he attended Tiyak’s Dulia Gaon Primary School No. 54. He then attended Tiyak High School. In his life, he attended three different schools. Mariani High School, Jorhat Polytechnic School, and Kamrup Academy are his Guwahati schools. After finishing high school, he wanted to seek a degree in agriculture in order to spend his time farming and doing other social activities.

In 1966, Neel began working as a teacher at Guwahati Art College. He started arranging art shows in 1969. During the 1970s, he raised funds to create a 180-foot-long painting called ‘Vrindavani Prachir.’ He established Charu-Karu Kala Parisha, Assam’s first private art school. His paintings have been shown in the Birla Academy of Art and Culture in Calcutta, the Lucknow Fine Arts Academy in Bhubaneswar, and the Lalit Kala Academy in Delhi, among other locations.
