Neil Lane Dishes on the Engagement — and Wedding! — Rings in the Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 Finale

Bachelor Nation’s resident jeweler told PEOPLE all about the dazzling style he designed for the ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Season 9 proposals — plus, see exclusive photos!

Neil Lane once again shares the sweet story behind the bling.

Love was in the air in Mexico on Thursday in the season 9 finale Bachelor in Paradisewhen both Aaron Bryant and John Henry Spurlock got down on one knee and proposed to their partners — Eliza Isichei and Kat Izzo, respectively — and Bachelor The national jeweler provided all the diamonds.

After a special night together in the Fantasy Suite, Aaron proposed to Eliza with a custom Neil Lane couture emerald diamond ring with a diamond halo. The band of the ring is set with smaller diamonds totaling just over 2 carats and is handcrafted and signed by Lana.

“Ultimately, these two good souls were drawn to each other and Aaron wanted to find a ring that would shine as perfectly and brilliantly as Eliza’s,” Lane tells PEOPLE. “When he saw an emerald cut diamond ring with a classic and elegant shape and all the little diamonds sparkling, he just knew this was it – it was perfection.”

Every ‘girly’ engagement ring!

But the diamond ring wasn’t the only thing that made Aaron’s proposal perfect. He also shared with Eliza that he had a “great conversation” with her mom before proposing, which left Eliza shocked.

“Eliza, I want to do it with you,” Aaron told her as he proposed. “I understand what this means for both of us. Eliza Manola Isichei, will you marry me?”

After Eliza said “yes,” Aaron excitedly exclaimed, “I put the ring on!”

“He’s giving away a fiancee!” she replied.

Aaron described his fiancé as “the best part Paradise for me” and he confessed, “I love everything about you, Eliza.”

John Henry asked for Kate’s hand in marriage with an Ascher cut diamond accented with two baguette cut diamonds, one on each side. The ring also features 26 round diamonds around the three main stones, and the handcrafted and hand-signed Lane design weighs approximately 2 carats in total.

His proposal, like Aaron’s, also came after he and Kat spent some time away from the cameras at the Fantasy Suites, with Kat in shock as she told him before he asked: “I didn’t see this happening. I always wanted this for myself.”

During the proposal, John Henry admitted that his “instinct” told him it was “too soon” to propose, but he wanted to “try something a little different” and “follow my heart,” so he got down on one knee.

“My heart tells me you’re amazing, you’re all I’m looking for. I really see a future with you. I don’t fall in love, I’m in love with you too. On that note, Kat, will you marry me?”

Moments before he proposed, Kat confessed to John Henry that she was “completely, wholeheartedly in love” with him. “Being with you seems like a love that comes only once in a lifetime. Just know that I love you, John Henry, and I want that forever,” she said.

Lane tells PEOPLE that John Henry “wanted a ring that could match Kate’s powerful presence.”

“For John Henry, the elements of the asscher cut diamond ring with two diamond baguettes represented that stability,” shares Lane. “While their relationship had its ups and downs, he ultimately envisioned an exciting and fulfilling life with her, and she could see him as her chosen family and the stability she sought.”

Aaron and Eliza and John Henry and Kate’s engagement weren’t the only rings exchanged at Paradise still the final.

Former Season 7 cast members Kenny Braasch and Mari Pepin returned to the beach for the first time since their stints on the show and said “I do” in front of the entire Season 9 cast.

Host Jesse Palmer officiated and Blake Moynes served as Kenny’s best man as the couple exchanged wedding bands designed by Neil Lane, of course.

Maria’s custom diamond and platinum wedding band hugs her 3 carat oval diamond engagement ring, which Lane also designed, while Kenny’s matching wedding band is handmade in platinum with a knife blade motif.

Both wedding rings were designed and signed by Lane.

“As a couple, they just love to have fun and had such a great time together when it came time to pick out the rings,” Lane tells PEOPLE. When Kenny picked out an engagement ring for his partner, Lane says “the oval shape was sexy to him like Mari.”

“He loved the little diamonds around the halo, always sparkling like Mari,” says Lane. “He also liked the elegance and how beautiful it looked.”

Lane says Maria’s wedding ring was “more complicated to make” because it wrapped around the halo of her diamond ring.

“It’s like this beautiful magical connection between two people who have been on a long journey in search of love and have now found it in each other,” he shares.

For his wedding ring, Kenny knew he “wanted something classic with a slightly subtle but strong design,” which led Lane to create the knife edge.

PEOPLE previously reported that Kenny and Mari’s wedding ceremony took place in Puerto Rico on Nov. 11 — a date they chose because Pepin, 27, admitted, “I believe in signs and numbers, so 11/11 is obviously considered special number and means good things.”

“As a little girl, I always dreamed about my wedding day and what it would look like and what I would wear, but as you get older, you realize that’s not the most important part,” reflects 27-year-old Mari. “The important part is actually finding the person with whom you want to spend the rest of your life and with whom you get along so well. And it wasn’t until I met Kenny that I thought, oh yeah, I don’t think about it that much because that’s the person I want to be with. It really made me realize that it was the right thing to do.”

She said they decided on a destination wedding in Puerto Rico, where much of her family lives, because she and Kenny, 42, wanted their big day to be “smaller, easier to organize” and “more intimate”.

At the time, she teased “a few other celebrations so we can get more people involved,” and on Thursday Paradise the finale delivered just that.
