Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka Celebrate Christmas Eve with Their 13-Year-Old Twins Gideon and Harper

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka went all out this year as they celebrated Christmas with their two children.

On Monday, Unconnected actor, 50, and his celebrity chef husband, 48, got into the Christmas spirit as they spent time with their 13-year-old twins, Gideon and Harper, posting a video of their pre-launch opening on Instagram.

“Did I push it? Did I push the red one? Okay. We just wanted to say Merry Christmas to everyone on the Instagram. From the Burtka-Harris household,” Harris begins. “This is right before we opened any presents. We had a nice, fancy dinner at the restaurant.”

– I didn’t cook! Burtka calls.

“Wow! Then we came home and cleaned up some liquid fecal matter from one of our perfectly named dogs, Chunk,” adds Harris, son Gideon protesting behind him not to share the details.

“That’s why Christmas smells good,” adds Burtka.

“Oh and Chunk, you’ve been getting coal in your stocking since you gave us coal in your stocking. And now we’re going to open the presents. So this is the pre-introduction video. Say happy holidays! Spike hopes you get everything you want.”

“And we’ll send another Christmas video after we open everything from this same location, to show you how it all went. So thanks for following us on Instagram, thanks for being good to our family,” Harris tells the camera.

“If you’re not following us, you better be following us,” Gideon says.

Neil Patrick Harris shares a live look at Thanksgiving with twins Gideon and Harper and husband David Burtka

“Oh! That sounded aggressive and threatening,” Harper jokes.

“Spike will find you and give you all the kisses if you follow us. If not, you miss the kisses.” adds Gideon. “What, did you think this was going to be a threat?”

“Merry Christmas Eve!” the Burtka-Harris family sings together holding all four of their dogs.

“Merry Christmas Eve! Pre-presentation greetings made with sweet excitement before a litany of unfulfilled sugar-fueled expectations turn the process into family chaos. Can’t wait. #grateful,” Harris captioned his post.

In November, the actor gave a sneak peek at part of his Thanksgiving celebration with his family of four.

Harris went live on Instagram, showing how his two teenagers spent the holidays. When he approached Gideon, the teenager was playing Five Nights at Freddy’s, which he laughed at as he said it was “terrible”.

Moving on to daughter Harper, Harris gave a shout-out to her outfit, which he called a “summer Thanksgiving look.” Harris praised her “fantastic” natural hair, while her brother teased how she “still spends an hour in the morning on it”.

“Okay, let’s not, shall we? Thanks,” she said in the background.

It’s in October How I Met Your Mother The alum talked about preparing for the teenage years with twins Harper and Gideon.

“They keep telling us they’re going to hate us at some point,” Harris joked. “That hasn’t happened yet. So, you know, so far so good!”

“They’re good kids. We did a good job. You know, you put in the work and you get it back, you know?” added Burtka.

The two hope that the quality time they spend as a family will continue to foster good relationships all around.

“I mean, if you’re going to spend time with your kids — they have access to you, so the more access you have, the more they can open up,” reasoned Burtka.
