“I wish no harm on these films,” Campbell told the crowd. About the sixth installment, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, she said: “I wanted the movie to be good. It’s not like I’m sitting in my house saying, ‘I hope it’s bad, I hope it’s not good’. ”

Campbell admitted that she did not see Scream VI up to two weeks before the performance at the convention — “I needed a minute, I don’t know why!” – and praised the story that takes place in New York.

“I actually thought they did a really good job. I think the actors are really powerful, wonderful actors,” she said.

But I was really disappointed with their choice to get rid of David… We were all in love with him and I think we were all pretty sad about it. Which, of course, is why they do it because it has more impact. But now I miss it. I want to see more of him.”

Since playing her role since 1996 directed by Wes Craven ScreamCampbell also joked, “I’m glad Sidney didn’t die.”

“To be a girl who got to play a character who is not a victim, who wins, who is not the typical female character from horror movies, who is a fighter, who inspired that in people, is a great honor. I had no idea – I knew the script was great. I loved Sidney’s journey in the first one. But I had no idea the effect it would have, the impact it would have on people. It really touches me.”
