NewJeans, a new K-pop group, broke another record. ‘New Jeans’, the group’s self-titled first album, sold more than 260,000 copies in one day. This is the first day of sales for any debut album released since September 2019. In addition to the immense love of fans for their debut, the trio also topped many local and international charts, gaining significant attention. The album was also the third girl group debut album to have the highest first-week sales on Hante, after jumping to the top on the first day of release. NewJeans’ first album was released digitally on August 1st, with a physical CD to follow on August 8th.
Pre-orders for NewJeans reached more than 444,000 copies in four days, according to the group’s label ADOR, the highest reported sales volume for a K-pop girl group’s debut album in history. However, the physical record will only be sold in the Weverse Shop Global. Physical copies of the album are available at Weverse Shop Japan and Universal Music Japan.
In addition to physical album sales, the band set various records in digital streaming with their album. On the day it was released, their first album ‘New Jeans’ earned 2.06 million streams, 226,000 total listeners and 88,000 followers on Spotify. In all three categories, the group set the highest record of any K-pop girl group debuting this year. In particular, NewJeans’ “Attention” and “Hype Boy” spent two days at the top of the Korean Spotify ‘Daily Top Song’ chart. Furthermore, “Cookie” was ranked third on August 2 KST, while “Hurt” was ranked fifth.

On July 1, 2022, ADOR released a series of teasers for the upcoming girl group. Min Hee-jin, SM Entertainment’s creative director and board member, founded the group. The group made their debut on the ADOR label. HYBE created its ADOR sub-label last year, which will be led by Min Hee-jin.
