New Mom Gypsy-Rose Blanchard Shows Off Postpartum Body ‘Almost a Week’ After Giving Birth

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard documents her postpartum progress!

“Almost a week postpartum,” the new mom, 33, wrote via a selfie on her Instagram Stories on Friday, January 3. “I feel more energetic.”

The photo showed her slimmer figure since welcoming daughter Aurora Raina Urker with her boyfriend Ken Urker on Dec. 28 — the same day Blanchard was released from prison a year ago for her role in the slaying of her mother Clauddine “Dee Dee 2015” Blanchard.

“We’re both fascinated by the aurora borealis, and the real term is Aurora Borealis,” Blanchard told PEOPLE earlier in December about the meaning of their child’s name.

“I think it was maybe 2018, we wrote each other’s future child’s name on pieces of paper and Aurora is what we both chose without even knowing each other was choosing.”

Blanchard and Urker, 31, were already engaged in 2018 before calling it quits and later getting back together.

The couple announced the arrival of their little one a few days after her birth.

“We welcome 2025 with the greatest gift of all 👼,” Urker wrote on an Instagram photo of the family of three on January 1.

The picture shows Blanchard lying in a hospital bed, smiling while holding Aurora. Urker stood leaning over them both as he inspected his bundle of joy.

Before they welcomed their first child together, Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up star spoke to PEOPLE about how she planned for her relationship with her child to be different from the one she had with her mother.

“Everything that I wanted from a mother, I want to give to this baby,” she said. “My mother told me that I would never get married, raise a family, have children, or do any of that. So to be here, standing on my own two feet and expecting my first child, that’s something that I’ve reached as an accomplishment and a personal goal.”

Blanchard continued, “I thank God every day that I now have this second chance at life with my child. The way my mother raised me is definitely not the way I will be. We always say for the next generation, we want to be better than we were raised and so, for me, I don’t think that could be truer.

After giving birth in November, the mother-to-be shared her gratitude for the support her friends and family have given her.

“Ken and I were so excited to have a beautiful celebration that our daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, can look back on and see how she was accepted and embraced with love by our community,” she told PEOPLE exclusively. She will be supported and given all the happiness that a child should experience.”
