Metropolitan Nashville Police confirm the former NHL player ran a stop sign and hit the driver’s side of a BMW
Savannah Chrisley’s ex-fiancé Nic Kerdiles died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident early Saturday morning, according to WRKN News 2 .
The Nashville Metropolitan Police Department reportedly told the Nashville station that Kerdiles, 29, ran a stop sign in a residential area north of the Tennessee capital around 3:30 a.m. while riding his Indian motorcycle.
According to media reports, police said Kerdiles hit the driver’s side of the BMW, who was not injured in the crash, but Kerdiles was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.
A representative for Chrisley did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment, and a representative for MNPD and Kerdiles could not be reached.
On Friday night, Kerdiles shared a photo of himself wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle. He wrote “Night Rider” under the vehicle on his Instagram Story.

Earlier this month, the former professional hockey player — who played for the Anaheim Ducks from 2014 to 2017 before being drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in 2018 — reflected on making the most of each day in a series of Instagram photos from time spent with his family back home.
“Time in this life passes faster every day. I will never take these days with them for granted again and my advice is the same for everyone else,” he wrote in the description.
Kerdiles was previously engaged to Chrisley, 26, after they started dating in November 2017.
In July 2020, Savannah shared with PEOPLE that the engagement and wedding were off. She explained her and Kerdiles’ decision: “Nic and I have been together for two and a half years. We’re just trying to find our place in this world.”

“We work on ourselves to be better for each other. I like to say that our relationship is unique and we kind of march to our own beat,” she said.
While the reality star said she and Kerdiles are still together, she felt they “jumped into things too quickly” and now “want to make sure we’re both in a healthy place.”
In September, Chrisley shared in an Instagram post that the couple had “decided to break up.”
