Nicholas Brendon Was Rushed To Hospital After Suffering A Cardiac Arrest

Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Nicholas Brendon has been hospitalized after suffering a second cardiac arrest. The 51-year-old actor was sent to the hospital and is currently “focused on medical examinations.” His sister took to Instagram to write a long letter on his behalf, describing his health issues. The announcement read:

“Nicky is fine today, but was sent to the hospital about two weeks ago due to a cardiac episode (tachycardia/arrhythmia). Some of you may remember that he had a similar experience during his second spinal surgery (for Cauda Equina) last year. He was trying to get more rest and focused on his doctor’s appointments.”

Reasons for hospitalization of Nicholas Brendon

The cause of Nicholas Brendon’s unexpected visit to the emergency room was described by his sister in a lengthy Instagram post as a “cardiac episode” involving “tachycardia” and “arrhythmia”. She also said that the actor had to undergo spinal surgery. Nicholas Brendon underwent surgery last year after suffering from “genital paralysis” and leg paralysis. According to The Daily Mail, his manager, Theresa Fortier, said his arrest for prescription fraud, as well as having to sleep in a prison cell with a concrete floor, contributed to his depression. She mentioned:

“They weren’t too concerned about his health during the arrest… It aggravated the symptoms of his earlier injury, and the paralysis is reappearing. Maybe another drive failed or everything could have been misaligned. So, sleeping on the cement floor with other convicts was not very conducive to rehabilitation and aggravated his injuries, which has left him in excruciating agony with numbness and paralysis ever since.”

Nicholas Brendon’s recent health concern related to tachycardia, according to the Mayo Clinic, can lead to major health complications such as heart failure or sudden stroke. According to the Mayo Clinic, symptoms of tachycardia include pounding heart, chest discomfort, fainting, lightheadedness, high heart rate and shortness of breath.

Some patients with tachycardia may have no symptoms at all. However, if these signs are present or if the person feels any pain, seek medical attention immediately. Although it is not known if Nicholas Brendon had similar symptoms, his sister said the actor is now focusing on his doctor’s visits.
