Nick Viall Reveals the ‘Side Bet’ He Made with Tom Sandoval on Special Forces: ‘I Was Really Pissed’

Nick Viall and Tom Sandoval upped the ante during the challenge on Special forces: the toughest test in the world.

On Monday, in an episode of the competitive reality show, Bachelor alum and Vanderpump Rules star met in a race down a 330-foot dam.

Although Sandoval ended up winning the challenge, Viall revealed that there was more at stake than just bragging rights.

“On the way up, Tom bet me $100. He said, ‘Do you want to bet $100?’ They didn’t show it,” the 43-year-old reality star recalled of one of his episodes Viall files podcast. “He’s like, ‘Side bet,’ and I’m like, ‘Sure.’ So we had $100 on it.”

“Tom and I raced down the wall. I was really mad because he technically beat me,” Viall continued. “I screwed up because if you watch – they broadcast it – at the very end, you see that I jerked and stopped. I was literally going down the wall so fast that the security team was jerking it. … What they didn’t show is [operative Mark “Billy” Billingham] winking at me as he said, [‘You got scared and you stopped’].”

The podcast host revealed that he and Sandoval were both “flying” through the course and were “a good 10 feet ahead” until he felt a “pull” toward the end of the race.

Viall said of the group’s reaction to his loss: “Tom’s just, like, kind of laughing and I was laughing at him and then Billy said I’m crazy and I’m really pissed. I just decided to take it and smile and whatever.”

Despite the initial irritation, he accepted the defeat with good sportsmanship and “paid [Sandoval] as soon as I got off [the show and] got my phone back” via Venmo.

“I am a man of my word,” he added.

This isn’t the first time Viall has opened up about filming the intense military training series with Sandoval.

Back in August, the television personality shared that the Tom Sandoval & the Most Extras singer was “definitely very nervous” about being on the show because his appearance comes after his bombshell affair with his VPR actress Rachel “Raquel” Leviss.

“I think there was a bit of noise [surrounding him]… Some people knew him, some people knew about him,” Viall explained. “I have so much to say, I don’t know how much I can give. Tom is an interesting guy, I’ll say that much. A unique person.”

“I spent a lot of time with Tom. I was in a Jeep once [with] it’s just Tom and I, and we’re constantly miked and there’s cameras everywhere,” he added. “I had a podcast episode I wanted to have with Tom on this in the Jeep. [The show] it wasn’t about holding a grudge, it was about teamwork and working together and disregarding any judgment you might have about someone. You were forced to agree.”
