Nicki Minaj's Press-On Nail Brand Brings Her Iconic Style to Fans: Inside the N.Y.C. Pop-Up!

Nicki Minaj fans can now recreate the rapper’s iconic nail styles.

After launching in March, Pink Friday Nails is teaming up with Shopify to debut an immersive pop-up experience at Shopify NY in New York City.

From Thursday, October 11 to Sunday, October 13, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the creative world of Pink Friday Nails through nail art demonstrations, interactive sessions and a first look at recent product launches.

Ahead of the event opening on October 11, Minaj’s longtime nail artist and Pink Friday Nails collaborator Yvett G spoke with PEOPLE about the brand and her collaboration with Minaj.

“Most of the inspiration comes from Nicki herself,” says Yvett, who works as creative director. “Whenever I’ve worked with her, she’s given me a little bit of creative freedom. She’ll give me a little mood board: ‘Here’s the look, I need you to do this golden thing, whatever.’ So when we started the brand, she said, ‘ I need it to be inspired by the things we’ve already done, because I want my fans, my Barbz, to have a little bit of me.'”

“Nicki specifically said, ‘I have to have a lot of sizes,'” Yvett recalls. “Because, for example, Nicki has very small nail beds. So if she would just go out and get a regular one [press-ons]they don’t fit her because they are too big. That’s why we try to give you as many options as possible.”

“I think the biggest thing right now is that we just want to bring it to people,” Yvett says of the future of the venture. “So we’re looking at retail settings, things like that. And I think more events like this, because I’ve been, we need people to see them, because our quality is what stands out above. The design is beautiful to look at, but it’s also the quality. ”
