Nicole Kidman Teases That You Might Want to Watch Her Sexy New Movie Babygirl 'Alone' (Exclusive)

Nicole Kidman thinks it’s perfectly fine to see Girl solo this Christmas.

The actress, 57, chatted briefly with PEOPLE on the red carpet as she arrived at the 2024 Gotham Awards on Monday, Dec. 2. When asked who the audience should bring with them to watch her new erotic drama, Kidman says, “Whoever you want, but you can watch it alone.”

In the film, the Oscar winner plays an executive named Romy who embarks on an increasingly risky affair with an intern named Samuel (Harris Dickinson). Written and directed by Halina Reijn (Bodies Bodies Bodies), also stars Antonio Banderas as Romy’s husband and Sophie Wilde as Romy’s ambitious assistant.

Talking to Vanity Fair in August, Kidman told her Girl the role “took me out” and I felt “very exposed as an actor, as a woman, as a human being.”

Nicole Kidman reveals ‘Babygirl’ is her nickname for Keith Urban (and he has it tattooed on his neck!)

“At some point I thought, I don’t want to be touched. I don’t want to do it anymore, but at the same time I was forced to do it. Halina would hold me and I would hold her, because it was very contradictory to me,” she recalled.

Of the film’s intimate moments, she added, “This is something you do and hide in your home videos. It’s not something the world will usually see… I had to go in and out like, I have to put my guard back ‘What did I just do? ‘ ”

Kidman said an “enormous amount of trust” was key to unlocking the chemistry and complex relationship between her and Dickinson’s characters during a Q&A for the film in Los Angeles on Oct. 18.

In that Q&A, Kidman credited Reijn for helping her feel comfortable during the filming process. “You have your director at the helm saying, ‘I’m going to protect you. Nothing that’s going to be in the movie is going to be anything you’re not comfortable with. You’re going to be fine,'” she recalled.
