Nikki Haley’s 2 Children: What to Know About Rena and Nalin

Nikki Haley’s children, Rena and Nalin, may not be as interested in a political career as their mom, but they’ve been supporting her during her 2024 presidential run.

The Republican Party candidate welcomed her two children with husband Michael Haley after they married in 1996. Her daughter Rena was born in June 1998, while her son Nalin was born in September 2001.

Although Nikki was raised Sikh, she converted to Christianity when she married Michael and raised her children in the Christian faith. However, she made sure to bring her children to her parents’ Indian church so they could be exposed to both traditions.

Although Rena did not follow her mother into a political career, she still works in public service as a nurse.

Rena graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and psychology in 2021, according to her LinkedIn. While busy with her career as a pediatric nurse, Rena has made it a priority to appear for her mom during the presidential race, especially during the debates while Michael is deployed overseas.

“My dad was always that person for my mom during her debates, someone she could always just find and just know that she was okay,” Rena said during an interview with Fox News. “He has such good energy. And that’s the role I took on with my dad. The departure was at all the debates and for her to be that person that only a familiar face sees.”

During one of those debates, one of Nikki’s opponents, Vivek Ramaswamy, brought his daughter into the conversation, which Nikki quickly cut short.

“In the last debate she made fun of me because I actually joined TikTok, well her own daughter actually used the app for a long time so maybe you should take care of your family first before you preach to anyone else,” Ramaswamy said.

“Leave my daughter out of your voice,” she replied. “You’re just scum.”

“Look, I’m a mom. I’m a mom. So as soon as you go and start saying something about my 25-year-old daughter, I’m going to stand up,” Nikki said later after the arguments, according to NBC News.

As for her personal life, Rena got married on April 15, 2023 to her college boyfriend, Joshua Jackson. The two later went on their honeymoon in St. Lucia and they bought a house together.

Nikki’s second child, Nalin, was born on September 6, 2001. The youngest, Haley, grew up in South Carolina with his sister, where he played basketball for his high school team.

“So much fun watching Nalin play yesterday and lead her team in scoring for a one point win,” Nikki wrote x After a game in February 2019 “Both Nalin and Michael put up with my loud cheering/coaching all season long!”

In September 2023, Nalin began his senior year of college at Villanova University.

“We took Nalin back to school for the last time,” Nikki wrote on Instagram about the occasion. “It’s hard to believe that this is his last year. Thanks to Rena and Josh for helping with the move while their dad is away. ❤️.”

Nalin does not want to follow his mother into politics, but like his sister, he was by her side during her campaign. He worked directly with her team over the summer, and after returning to school in the fall, continued to help raise funds for the small donation campaign.

As her campaign continued, Nalin became increasingly defensive of her mother, insulting other previous candidates who have since sided with Donald Trump in the race for the Republican nomination.

“A lot of them went to New Hampshire and I saw Trump standing side by side, he was next to Senator Judas — sorry, Senator Scott,” he said after a February 2024 campaign event in South Carolina. Nikki joked that she would “deal with it [him] later.” Despite his outspoken opinions, Nikki expressed how proud she was of both her children.

“I’m proud of them,” she told Fox News in November 2023. “The goal was always to make sure we had that family dinner and they knew we were there.”
