In 2019, Nitesh Kumar was selected for the Indian Kabaddi team to participate in the 13th South Asian Games held in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal. The Indian kabaddi team defeated Sri Lanka 51-18 to win the gold medal.
In 2023, Nitesh Kumar became a member of the Indian Kabaddi team to participate in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. In the final, the Chinese team defeated the Iranian team 33-29 and won the gold medal.
In the same year, he represented India in the 2023 Asian Kabaddi Championship in Busan, South Korea. India defeated Iran 42-32 to win the gold medal.

Professional Kabaddi League
Nitesh Kumar was selected in the New Young Player (NYP) category by Lucknow-based franchise UP Yoddhas in 2017 and made his Pro Kabaddi League debut as a defender in the 5th season.
The following year, he stayed with the team for the 6th season of the Pro Kabaddi League, playing 25 games and scoring 100 steals.
In 2019, Nitesh was retained by the team again and was appointed as the captain of the “UP Yoddhas” team in PKL Season 7. He played a total of 22 games in the season and scored 77 steals.
Nitesh’s association with the “UP Yoddhas” team continued in the 8th and 9th seasons of the Pro Kabaddi League.
In the 10th season of the Professional Kabaddi League, he was retained by the team again. He played a total of 14 games and scored 35 tackle points, as well as a 100% raid hit rate and a 49% tackle hit rate.
