Desai’s breakthrough came in 1999 when he worked as the art director for the Hindi film “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”. The film was a critical and commercial success, and Desai won the Filmfare Award for Best Art Direction for his work.

Four-time National Award winner for Best Art Direction, Nitin Desai, was found dead at his Karjat-based ND studio.
Renowned art director Nitin Desai has passed away. The cause of his death has not yet been announced by the police in more detail. On Wednesday morning, he was found dead in his ND studio in Karjat. However, preliminary reports suggest that he committed suicide. The cause of death has not yet been fully disclosed.
Nitin Desai won the National Award for Best Art Direction four times. During his two decades in Bollywood, he has worked with renowned directors such as Ashutosh Gowarikar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The news of his death is incredibly sad. He and I talked the day before.
Nitin made the transition from art direction to production in 2003 with Desh Devi Maa Ashapura. In addition, he created the hugely successful Marathi television series Raja Shivchhatrapati. In 2005, Nitin founded ND Studios in Karjat, a suburb of Mumbai. The 52-acre studio has served as a location for various film sets, Jodha Akbar being the most famous. Hello Jai Hind!
