In 2018, she defeated Thai boxer Nirada Miku to win the gold medal at the Asian Youth Boxing Championships. After a shoulder injury in 2019, she had to take nearly two years off. In 2022, she participated in the 73rd Strandja Memorial Boxing Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. She defeated Italian boxer Prisciano Daro 5-0 to win the gold medal. Neetu spoke about her comeback and winning the gold medal in an interview, she said,
I heard that Strandja is one of the oldest boxing championships and I am very proud that my country won the gold medal. Now, I want to take it step by step this year. We have the World Championships and I want to put my heart and soul into it and win a gold medal there. I want to sit with (coach) Bhaskar Bhatt sir and other coaches and work on my strengths and weaknesses. I want to be ready and perform my best there. “
In 2022, she defeated Indian boxer Mary Kom and qualified for the Commonwealth Games. Nitu Ghanghas plays left-handed and is coached by Bhaskar Bhatt and Jagdish Singh.
In March 2023, she defeated Mongolia’s Ruseihan Altanseg in the 48kg final of the Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi and won the gold medal.

- When she was a teenager, her father took her to Bhiwani Boxing Club (BBC) in Haryana to start her boxing training. He even risked losing his job to accompany his daughter to training. Neetu said in an interview,
My father took several days of “unpaid leave” for my training. He had to borrow money from friends and relatives to meet household expenses. “
- When she was 15, she lost control of her two-wheeler and hit a tractor. Her pelvic bones were injured in the accident. In an interview, she said of the accident:

- In 2016, she joined SAI National Boxing Academy, a boxing training academy located in Rohtak, Haryana.

I played four games in a lot of pain. My right hand is not used to this kind of load. Looking back, this was a stupid mistake on my part. Due to injury, she did not participate in the national team training camp. Her training also suffered due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. In an interview, while talking about the same issue, she said,
Honestly, I was in a very dark place. I thought about giving up boxing. I could never think clearly. As my shoulder healed, I slowly started training at home. Later, during the lockdown, my father secretly took me to the college. “
