NMC warns of fake renewal permission letter

Fake renewal permission letter: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a notice regarding the fake renewal permission letter issued to Karnataka Medical College. NMC has clarified that a bogus permission letter dated 13 September 2023 has been issued to GR Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Karnataka for renewal of MBBS course for second batch.

The commission said no such letter was issued by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB). Recently, the NMC warned about a bogus permission letter issued to GSL Medical College in Andhra Pradesh for increasing the number of seats for doctors and another letter issued to medical colleges in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh for renewal of seats and courses.

In an official notification, the NMC stated that “The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has received that a forged/fake letter dated September 13, 2023 has been issued to GR Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Karnataka under renewal permits for MBBS course for 2nd batch (1st renewal) for AY 2022-23.”

It also added: “It is clarified that the above letter was not issued by the Member/Chairman, MARB of NMC. Therefore, this letter is forged/fake and cannot be considered as a valid clearance from the Medical Assessment and Evaluation Board, National Medical Commission.”

Fake letter issued to medical college in Andhra Pradesh

Earlier, the NMC clarified that GSL Medical College, Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh was issued a fake letter of permission to increase the number of doctors called Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB). The commission said that the letter was not issued by the MARB president because no request for increasing the number of seats was received from the college.

Fake permission letter for 2 medical colleges in Tamil Nadu

Not only medical colleges in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu but fake letters were issued to colleges in Tamil Nadu as well. The NMC has clarified that the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has not issued renewal letters and permission to increase MS seats for Meenakshi Medical College, Kanchipuram and Santhiram Medical College, Kurnool. The commission has also warned about fake admissions and NEET allotment letters several times in the past.
