Nolan Gould wanted to add a personal touch when celebrating the holiday season with Modern family team.
While appearing in a recently released episode Dinner is on me podcast, the 25-year-old actor opened up to his former co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson about giving personalized Christmas decorations to their Modern family associates.
“Every year for Christmas, you know, there’s always stress about, like, what to get the team for Christmas, what to get the other members of the team for Christmas, [and] you gave the greatest gift ever,” Ferguson, 48, told Gould. “Every year you made these really sweet homemade ornaments that would include a photo, usually a press photo, from Modern family.”
Noting that he would sign “Love, Nolan” on the back of the gifts, Gould explained, “Some of the people who were at [the show] in all 11 years I’ve got all 11,” to which Ferguson replied: “That’s right – I’m one of them.”
Gould then described how his annual gift still resonates, explaining, “[At] At Christmas every year someone will send me a photo of all of them on the tree.”

Gould played Luke Dunphy Modern family for 11 seasons from 2009 to 2020, featuring a cast that included Ferguson, Ed O’Neill, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet, Rico Rodriguez, Ariel Winter and Sarah Hyland.
Elsewhere during her podcast appearance, the star reflected on growing up on the hit ABC series, declaring: “I wouldn’t change my childhood. Like, I’m really happy. I got to be a part of such an amazing show. I know that, like many other children, actors are not so lucky.”
While he admitted that being a child star meant “all these doors closed to some traditional lifestyle,” Gould said it has since “opened this really beautiful door to a traditional, non-linear lifestyle.”
He explained: “I do a lot of things now that people might have done when they were young.”
“I’m happy with where I am now and I’m so glad I was able to be a part of the show,” he continued. – I wouldn’t change it.
