Yes, at Egger’s Nosferatu is a remake of Murnau’s silent film from 1922 Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horrorswhich was originally inspired by Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula.
2024 version Nosferatu appeared more than 100 years after a failed attempt to banish the original film due to copyright.
When the 1922 version Nosferatu debuted, Stoker’s wife, Florence, tried to sue the production company because her plot was too similar Draculaaccording to The New York Times. However, the production company was out of money as it used its resources for promotional purposes, and instead, a German judge ordered that copies of the projects be destroyed.
While the newspaper reported that the order was placed in Germany, the reel of Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horrors however, it made its way to the United States, where it became popular among moviegoers.
Murnau’s controversial film has now been remade twice — once in 1979 by Werner Herzog (Vampire Nosferatu) and recently Eggers. Meanwhile, in 2000, E. Elias Merhige published Shadow of the vampirefictitious retelling of the origin Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horrors.

Who’s in the cast Nosferatu?
Nosferatu has an all-star cast: Depp, Skarsgård, Dafoe, Corrin, Hoult and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

“You can’t detect any Bill here. He worked with an operatic coach to lower his voice an octave. I think people will think we’ve treated it digitally, but it’s his performance,” Eggers added.
Corrin, who plays Anna Harding, went through a different kind of ordeal on set. During the interview with Deadline before the release of the title, they remembered filming with rats.
“There were 30 of them on my bare chest,” Corrin said. “The smell is something you can’t imagine. And the incontinence was something I really didn’t expect, but it was horrible… It was dark.”
As for Hoult, he told PEOPLE in November 2022 that he’s “excited to really push it” Nosferatudirector. Eggers later confessed Los Angeles Times that his sets are known for being “quite serious and very demanding”.
