O.J. Simpson Denies Report He’s in Hospice Care: ‘All Is Well’

OJ Simpson lets people know that “it’s all right.”

The former football player, 76, responded to the WPLG report on Friday saying he “reportedly told his friends and family that he had heard rumors that he was in hospice care.”

“Hey, X world! Hospice? Hospice?! You talking about hospice? No, I’m not in any hospice. I don’t know who brought that up,” Simpson said in a video posted on x, formerly known as Twitter. After adding that “you can’t trust the media,” he continued by announcing that he was in Las Vegas and “going to host a bunch of friends for the Super Bowl.”

“Everything’s fine, you know? So guys, take care. Have a great Super Bowl weekend,” Simpson said at the end of the video. WPLG reported that Simpson is currently undergoing chemotherapy for prostate cancer. PEOPLE has reached out to Simpson’s rep for comment.

While Simpson didn’t deny or confirm the diagnosis in his new social media stream, he previously revealed it in a May 2023 video. x that he has finished treatment for an unspecified type of cancer.

“The last few years – really the last few years – unfortunately I got cancer, so I had to do the whole chemotherapy thing,” he explained in the four-minute clip. Simpson said those closest to him told him he would experience “nauseousness.” He said he started smoking weed to help and only felt nauseous twice.

“I’m over everything with the COVID. I’m sorry, I mean the chemo. I’m over having the COVID and the cancer at the same time, unfortunately, but I’m over the chemo,” Simpson said. “I only had nausea on two occasions, and it only lasted two or three minutes, so I thought pot really helped me with the unfortunate side of getting cancer.”

The former athlete ended his video by saying he was “healthy now.” “It seems I won. I’m happy about that,” he said.
