OP Sharma alias Om Prakash Sharma was born on Tuesday, April 1, 1952, in Moolgaon, Ballia, Uttar Pradesh (70 years at the time of death). His zodiac sign is Aries. He attended PS Bihara Harpur Primary School in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. He then studied at Kunwar Singh Inter College in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from TD College, Ballia, Uttar Pradesh in 1970. Later, he took a course in mechanical design.

Initially, his parents disliked his interest in magic and opposed it. However, as he began to gain popularity for his skills, they began to support him. OP Sharma said in an interview that his brother supported him in pursuing a career as a magician. He said,

I still remember him coming to visit me during the summer and performing magic tricks with me. As I got older I started reading books about magic while continuing my studies. “

After graduating in 1971, he found a job as a mechanical designer at the Small Arms Factory in Kanpur. His first stage performance as a magician was at Shastri Nagar Colony in Kanpur. He then held his first commercial magic show in Mumbai. He continued his magic show while working. Soon, he became popular in India and received many invitations to perform across India and other countries. His magic shows usually begin with a person emerging from an empty box. His show is popularly known by the name “Indrajaal”. Later, his son joined him in magic shows as magician OP Sharma Jr. He then founded the magic show group “Prakash Magico”. There are more than thirteen magicians in his team.

He has had some health issues with his kidneys over the past few years. In October 2022, he was sent to Fortune Hospital in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh for treatment. He breathed his last in the hospital on October 15, 2022, and died of kidney-related diseases.
