Offset Reveals His First Impression of Cardi B — and When He Realized She Was the One: ‘She’s a Family Person’

Offset shares what motivated him to shoot with Cardi B.

During an appearance on Wednesday at Call her dad podcast, the “Ric Flair Drip” rapper opened up about what drew him to Cardi — and how he eventually knew she was the one.

“I saw her online and I just loved the way she was raw and confident,” Offset, 31, told host Alex Cooper.

He added: “She didn’t care … what nobody thought. And it’s like a curse, it’s fire. Funny, great personality, from what I could see, you know what I’m saying? Like that’s a funny girl, she is a cool girl, and then I shot and splashed.”

After meeting Cardi, he realized how close she was to her parents and sister and decided she was “the one.”

“First of all, she’s a family person. I pay attention to… is— music and all that s—. That s— never mattered — that’s not what I watch,” he explained. “I look at your home values ​​because I’m from the south, so I was raised by my mother and grandmother. I come from strong women and I see how dedicated and determined she was to get to a certain place for her family.”

The “Clout” rapper also admired Cardi’s determination to provide for her family.

“First as respect for her position, right? We are both public figures, we are both in the public eye. Stop being selfish. You’re married to this woman, be committed to her,” he said of how they rebuilt their trust.

“Also, I’m just more communicative about s—. Like, we just talk more and love, because you know sometimes work got in the way and it was like [phew] and we’d talk all the time, but like communication is key, man,” he added. “If you don’t like some s—, tell me, and if I don’t like some s— I’ll tell you. We talk and communication is key, not fucking communication.”

Earlier this month, Cardi and Offset stepped out for his Run it album release party at Poppy Nightclub in West Hollywood. They also celebrated her 31st birthday that same week. The star revealed that her husband made her day special by gifting her with Hermès bags worth $500,000, according to Grazia, and decorating their home.
