Oliver Darcy News

Oliver Darcy, a CNN reporter, was reportedly left “visibly shaken” by his supervisor Chris Licht’s criticism of the leftist reporter for his “emotional” coverage of the network’s town hall event featuring former President Donald Trump on Wednesday night.

Fox News stated that Darcy was summoned to a meeting with Licht and other network executives who were angry over the criticism CNN received for the town hall, notably from left-leaning publications and politicians.

Darcy appeared to disparage his own employer in his “Reliable Sources” newsletter after the town hall broadcast. According to a source for Fox News, Darcy’s article stated that “CNN and new network boss Chris Licht are facing a fury of criticism — both internally and externally over the event,” which outraged other employees, who expressed their displeasure with the CEO.

According to the source, Licht said to Darcy during the discussion, “I’m asking you to not be emotional.” Licht allegedly stated that he want more impartial reporting of all news organisations, not just CNN.

Dylan Byers of Puck News said on Friday that Darcy “stood by his work.”

However, two sources who heard about the encounter later said he appeared rattled, according to Byers’ article on Friday.

The former president, who is currently making his third attempt for the presidency, has drawn criticism for repeatedly making baseless assertions that the 2020 election was rigged.

In addition, Trump made fun of E. Jean Carroll, the author who had successfully sued him for defamation and sexual assault. The claims have been refuted by Trump.

At a contentious point in the CNN town hall, the president referred to the moderator, Kaitlan Collins, as a “nasty person,” drawing applause from the audience.

The spectacle of lies that appeared on CNN Wednesday night made it difficult to understand how America was served, Darcy wrote in the introduction of his email.

It will be critical to see how Licht and other CNN executives respond to the criticism in the days and weeks to come. Are they going to justify what happened at Saint Anselm College? Will they apologise, or not? Darcy penned.

Regarding Collins, a rising network star who is anticipated to be elevated from co-hosting CNN’s morning show to the primetime position at 9 p.m., Licht appears to have no regrets about his decision.

Licht stated at a staff meeting on Wednesday morning, “You do not have to like the former president’s answers, but you can’t say that we didn’t get them.”
