Olivia Rodrigo Wants to Make a ‘Coming-of-Age’ Movie ‘Maybe Before I’m Actually of Age’

Olivia Rodrigo wants to continue her acting career soon.

As Rodrigo, 20, caught up Diversity at the Academy’s Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Tuesday, the “Get Him Back” singer addressed the “million dollar question” of when she could act in film or television again.

“I would love to. I think it would be a lot of fun. I love movies, I love telling stories,” she said. “I really want to do something about growing up, maybe before I come of age.”

“Maybe I’m already of age, I don’t know,” added Rodrigo, who turns 21 on February 20. “I just love telling stories, whether it’s in song or film, it’s something that really excites me.”

Rodrigo got her start in entertainment as a child actor, with credits in the 2015 film American Girl. “Pure excitement,” she shared, when Diversity asked how she felt when she was asked to write a song for the film. “I grew up reading Hunger Games and I watch movies and I like soundtracks Hunger Games so it was a great honor to contribute to that. Very grateful.”

Before Rodrigo gets the chance to make that coming-of-age movie, she may be weeks away from a potential Oscar nomination for “Can’t Catch Me Now.” Song, which plays during Ballad of songbirds and snakes’ exit credits, was on the Oscars’ shortlist of songs eligible for nominations, as Deadline reported in December.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo has six nominations at the upcoming 2024 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for his 2023 album. INTESTINES.
