ONLY Fools and Horses star John Challis’s nephew has tragically died with his family saying his watch was stolen from his body.

The family of the late BBC comedy star have shared their heartbreak on social media.

Legendary comedy star John Challis died in September 2021 at the age of 79.

John’s wife Carol took to X, formerly Twitter, to share the devastating news about their nephew, writing: “Simon’s personal belongings were returned to us today from Germany, at last.

“Sadly his wristwatch was missing.

“Disappointing that someone should feel the need to help themselves. God bless these two, my much loved husband and his friend, my nephew Si.”

It has not been revealed how Simon died.

It is unclear if the watch was definitely on him at the time or what happened to it.

Another post said: “You’ve had your fair share of sadness, but I sure hope that by posting all these photos and memories it brings you happiness.

“Despicable that someone would steal from someone’s personal property. Thoughts are with you all x,” a third wrote.

While one comment read: “That is so sad that someone could steal such precious belongings from a grieving family. So very sorry you’ve lost your nephew.”

Another touching message said: “When you see John playing Boycie every other day on Gold, it makes it kind of hard to believe he’s not still with us. Hope you are okay Carol x.”

Challis became a much-loved actor mainly thanks to playing Terrance ‘Boycie’ Boyce in the classic sitcom Only Fools and Horses which starred David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst.

The hit show ran from 1981 until 2003 showing the scrapes the two wheeler-dealer brothers got themselves into hoping that one day they would become millionaires.

Challis reprised the character for the show’s spin-off series The Green Green Grass.

He was also a respected stage actor and appeared with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre.
