Although some Harry Potter fans are eagerly awaiting Max’s television reboot of their favorite movies, Jared Harris is not one of them.
The Crazy people alum — who is also the son of original Dumbledore actor Richard Harris — admitted he disagreed with the streamer’s decision to revisit the franchise on the small screen. When asked if he would consider following in his father’s footsteps as Dumbledore, he said The Independent“No thanks.”
“Also, I mean, why do it?” he added. “I don’t understand. The movies were fantastic – leave them alone.”

Despite his attitude, Fr Harry Potter series, Jared admitted that the episodes will likely be able to explore “a lot of stories” that the movies didn’t cover.

In April, Warner Bros. Discovery announced plans to adapt the original Harry Potter novels — this time, as a streaming series about Max. The studio called the project a “faithful adaptation,” teasing that each season will cover one book.
Rowling is expected to be involved as an executive producer despite her recent controversies.
“We are thrilled to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way,” said HBO and Max CEO and President Casey Bloys. “Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear that there is such an enduring love and thirst for the wizarding world. In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and JK Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy all these years.”

Radcliffe has previously revealed that he has no intention of reprising his role as the titular wizard.
“From what I understand, they’re trying to start over, and I’m sure whoever’s making them will want to make their mark on that and probably won’t want to figure out how to get old Harry to star in this somewhere,” Radcliffe told ComicBook.com in July 2023. .
When asked if he would really like to appear, he replied: “I’m definitely not looking for it in any way.”
